We’re extremely excited to share the news that Simon Cox, based in Sidney, British Columbia, has officially joined the team.
Swiftsure Yachts is definitely growing lengthwise! With the recent addition of Allison Lehman in the San Francisco Bay area, and now Simon Cox in British Columbia, Swiftsure can now offer immediate personal service in those two critical sailing areas north and south. Both Allison and Simon have forged rock solid reputations in their respective areas and worked hand in glove with Swiftsure in the past, so the transition is seamless. Both are deeply involved in their respective sailing communities.
Simon grew up “on the island” in Victoria, learning to sail dinghies with the Sea Scouts just outside Royal Victoria Yacht Club. He credits the structured program with giving him knowledge and a love of sailing. After graduating with a commerce degree from the University of Victoria, he made his way to the bright lights of Toronto, working in sales and marketing.
Like so many Swiftsure brokers, the draw of the sea was too much for him to resist, and he found himself back in the Pacific Northwest with a renewed interest in sailing. He found his brokering career start with Len and Debbie Baronit at Yacht Sales West in 2008. And while the economy took a dive shortly thereafter, Simon found himself very busy and successful in the rebuilding economy. In 2011 he moved back to Vancouver Island and soon opened an office in Sidney. He was a Director at the BC Yacht Brokers Association from 2011-2014.
Despite limited time, Simon enjoys some recreational sailing with his family and occasional racing. “One of my proudest moments,” Simon explains, “Was sailing with clients aboard the winning boat at Swiftsure shortly after my 40th birthday!”
Simon has frequently worked with Swiftsure Yachts on Vancouver Island listings, and appreciates our team approach. “He’s an excellent addition to the team,” says Ryan Helling, “Now we’re able to better serve the many past and present Swiftsure Yachts clients across the border on Vancouver Island and the mainland.”
