The Nautor Swan 651 is a piece of history and something from the history books begging to stretch her legs once again. SHOW ME is a fine yacht that has been professionally maintained by the same hands for the past 30 years, but the time has come for the family to move on. She has seen world adventure cruising before it was popular and has countless stories to tell; from being the start boat for the 1986 Americas Cup in Fremantle, Australia to raising a family of young sailors and touching the lives of many around the world. She patiently waits, a time capsule, eager to be found and released into a new adventure.

Interior description

The generous forepeak, located in the bow of the boat, is used for storage of sails, lines, deck cushions etc.

Directly aft are guest cabins to port and starboard with stacked single bunks. The inboard side of the upper bunks can be adjusted upward, tilting it slightly outboard to help keep its occupant in bed if the boat is heeled. Each bunk (upper and lower) has a lee cloth available. Both guest cabins have hanging lockers and drawers for storage, as well as outboard storage lockers in the upper bunks.

The port side guest cabin has its own head with shower and electrically flushing toilet with accessible Y-valve. The mirror is forward and storage lockers outboard, above and behind the toilet. There is teak grating on the sole.

There is another head directly aft of the Starboard guest cabin with a manual toilet facing inboard and accessible Y-valve. The mirror is forward and storage lockers outboard, above and behind the toilet. There is teak grating on the sole.

There is a full height hanging locker directly aft of the port side guest cabin.

Aft of the forward guest cabins is the spacious main salon. To port is a large “U” shaped settee surrounding a salon table with foldout extensions, and a bench on the inboard side. This easily seats eight to ten sailors on beautiful and comfortable white cushions. Across to the starboard is a straight settee with room for three to four more, with a built-in side table with storage on the forward side. There is of course much storage under each of the settee cushions on both sides.

Above the starboard settee is the entertainment center. There is a 26” Sony television, LG DVD/VHS player, and clarion CD player with Aux port. Around the entertainment center is much storage for media (or libations).

Sconces on the forward bulkhead make for a warm addition to the cabin windows and the “skylight” above the salon, which provides a great view of the main sail (or the stars).

The U-shaped Galley is to port, aft of the main salon. There is a Force Ten propane oven and stove with three burners. Forward of the stove is a countertop that opens to reveal the garbage can. The counter extends aft of the stove with drawers below, then large but separate freezer and refrigerator compartments. Both have access from the countertop. The fridge can also be accessed from the front. Inboard is a double basin sink. There is more cabinet space above, all the way around the galley.

The large nav station is forward facing, located aft of the main salon on the starboard side. There is a Big Bay Chartplotter / ships computer, Furuno radar display and GPS, B&G Hydra 2000 instrument display, SEA 222 Synthesized SSB radio, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS and GPS, Sailor Compact VHF RT2048, Xantrex Link 1000 battery monitor, Spectra Watermaker Control, and of course, the AC/DC breaker panel.

Moving aft from the nav station is the aft guest cabin, similar to the forward guest cabins with stacked bunks, a hanging locker and additional storage.

Inboard of the aft guest cabin is great engine and generator access that makes up the inboard part of the companionway leading aft to the master stateroom.

The master stateroom features a full bed with walk around space and his and hers seating on each side. On the starboard side, forward of the seat is a small table with storage. On the port side, forward of the seat is a vanity with a stool seat. The master head is just forward of the vanity on the port side. The mirror and sink are aft facing, cabinets are outboard and above the electric flushing toilet with an accessible Y-Valve.

Deck Layout and hull

SHOW ME has the typical deck layout for a boat of her generation. Her teak decks were hand laid and glued down with remarkable life left for years to come. Beginning forward, she has a large forepeak storage locker and three 20# propane bottles. Slightly aft and offset to the starboard side is the anchor windlass locker. Centerline on deck are the electric windlass operation switches, the baby stay and large forward hatch into to the storage below. Flanking the side decks are the dual spinnaker poles, traditional Swan brushed aluminum toe rail and lifelines. The vast deck is divided into the next section at the mast. Here, six self tailing winches and numerous fairleads move halyards aft to the working cockpit. Under the boom vang a square hatch is mounted just forward of the liferaft mounting pad. The large companionway hatch is next aft at the forward end of the working cockpit. Six more winches are here for primary and secondary winches. On the bridge deck just at the aft end of the boom are two coffee grinders to operate the winches and quickly accomplish maneuvers. Aft from there is the traveler, runner winches, main sheet winches and the aft cockpit.

SHOW ME was recently hauled out at CSR boatyard for new Sea Hawk BioCop antifouling bottom paint and Propspeed on the running gear. Her traditional swan hull form is proven. With her fin keel and skeg hung rudder she is a no nonsense machine.
