ALLURA is a high quality example of the classic Hallberg Rassy 46, ideal in shorthanded coastal and ocean cruising. While very well equipped, she features much redundancy in key functions making her both operationally safe and reliable. A true pushbutton boat with hydraulic main and genoa furling, powered winches, bow thruster, hydraulic vang, and backstay. This Hallberg-Rassy 46 has easy chairs to starboard in the salon and all the desirable comfort features including hard dodger, full cockpit enclosure, air conditioning, dual forced air diesel heaters, fridge and freezer, and a Spectra watermaker to make extended cruising a joyful experience. Her interior is finished in classic warm satin mahogany and off white port coverings throughout. Her comfortable saloon seating has the richness of Hallberg-Rassy selected blue Alcantara fabric to complete the warmth of this central cabin.

Electronics were recently upgraded with Furuno MFD in the cockpit, Raymarine instruments, AIS, VHF, and redundant autopilots. Powering the electronics is an impressive electrical system with 8kw genset, large 12V and 24V alternators, battery chargers, shore power transformer to accommodate 110V or 220V, and a large bank of AGM house batteries.

Delivered new to Seattle, ALLURA cruised the Pacific Northwest for three years before sailing to New England. The current owners purchased ALLURA in 2008 and have used her in New England during the summer and stored ALLURA inside each winter except for 2021 when she was stored outside and fully covered. In 2019 ALLURA was prepared for a transatlantic trip that was cancelled due to Covid. ALLURA is found ready to undertake ocean passages and long-distance cruising. Now stored indoors at Maine Yacht Center in Portland, ALLURA can be shown by appointment.

I can’t say enough about Hallberg-Rassy 46’s in general. It’s tough to imagine a finer bluewater cruising sailboat. I’ve have had the pleasure of logging thousands of miles, delivering Hallberg-Rassy 46’s in Sweden, up and down both coasts of the U.S., and in Mexico. This is far and away one of the nicest bluewater cruising boats available. Comfort, performance, stowage, and excellent construction details on this proven design are just a few of the reasons that the Hallberg-Rassy 46 is such a timeless and sought-after world cruiser.

DECK & HULL:

ALLURA’s hull is white gel coat with off white coach roof and blue sheer, boot, and coaming stripes. There are stainless-steel rub strips at cleats and lifeline gates and stainless-steel strakes on the rub rail. The keel is an external lead casting bolted to a sloped fiberglass keel stub.  The rudder has a partial skeg.  The skeg fairing was extended to help prevent lines and lobster traps from getting caught on the rudder.  The hull and deck are insulated with closed cell foam. The decks and coachroof are overlaid with high quality Burmese teak with a varnished teak caprail on raised bulwark and varnished teak handrails on the coach roof.

The cockpit is both deep and secure with fold-away D-rings for tethers. It is protected by a factory hard dodger with tempered glass.  The original windshield is in storage and could replace the hard dodger for those preferring a more open cockpit. A folding teak cockpit table is fitted. Varnished companionway chart tables are located on each side of the companionway. The cockpit sole has a teak grating.  A folding teak step is fitted aft of the helm allowing one to see over the hard dodger.  On deck storage is in three large lockers. Forward is a top opening chain locker (825 litres) with shelf and room for fenders, lines and other gear. The cockpit locker (725 litres) is below the starboard seat. There is a very large (960 litres) full beam locker located at the stern accessed by two deck hatches. All lockers drain overboard. The liferaft has dedicated D-rings and cover fitting on the coach-house aft of the cockpit.

Stainless-steel stanchions are mounted on the raised bulwark to maximize deck space and minimize deck penetrations.  Uncoated wire rope, double lifelines run forward from the midships gates to the bow pulpit. Oversized aluminum mooring cleats are aft, forward and midships.  A folding stainless steel swim ladder is mounted on the stern swim step and can be deployed from the water for safety.  A Questus white-painted aluminum radar pole is fitted to the backstay.  The tender is stored on stainless-steel Kato Marine davits. A derrick is fitted to raise the outboard to its dedicated mount on the pushpit.
