Hallberg-Rassy sustains its great reputation by continually leading the industry with its blue water cruisers capable of voyaging thousands of miles in comfort and style. The German Frers designed HR39 is such a vessel. Rejoice is a serious cruising yacht that is swift, safe, comfortable and beautifully designed. She has been outfitted, upgraded and maintained thoughtfully. From windlass to windvane she is well equipped and ready for a circumnavigation. Her center cockpit allows excellent visibility and safety offshore. Of equal importance, however, is how the center cockpit design contributes to a great layout below, adding separation for a private and sizable aft stateroom. Additionally there is a main salon, galley, nav station, head and forward guest cabin — and all are as brilliantly designed and finely fitted. The satin mahogany trim, gray upholstery and the white headliner are richly warm and inviting. Combining beauty and comfort with outstanding equipment and fine yacht design is classic Hallberg-Rassy.

Interior Accommodations
Unlocking the teak hatch boards, one may safely descend the companion way steps by utilizing the strategically placed grab rails to port and starboard. Cabin overhead light switches are similarly placed to aid in nighttime entry. Anti-skid is adhered to the steps to help prevent slipping when wet. Hatch boards store in the cockpit lazarette when not in use. There is also a custom transparent hatch panel that may be substituted for the upper teak hatch board for added daylight below and for clear sighting of helms person on night passages. To starboard a binocular holder is mounted on the upper galley bulkhead. Under the companionway steps hangs the ditch bag with the GlobalFix EPIRB and other emergency items. It is always ready and within easy reach should a crisis ever become imminent.
Decending the companionway, one will instantly know why Hallberg-Rassy has a stellar reputation for quality and finish. The interior of Rejoice is both beautiful and functional with its satin finished mahogany and white headliner. The teak and holly floors add warmth and beauty while complimenting the satin finish mahogany bulkheads and furniture. The new upholstery on the berths and settees is comfortable for relaxing and compliments the interior with its deep wood tones. Curtains on ports and hatches allow privacy as needed when neighbors become a bit too close. Comparatively, the interior of the Frers HR39 is among the roomiest in its class and one of the truly livable cruisers in the 40’ range with its thoughtfully designed layout and abundant storage. Night time LED lighting is luminous with overhead lighting & reading lights throughout, and ambient light strips in salon, galley, and nav station. These lights provide a warm radiant glow and sufficient lighting for important tasks when the sun goes down. The pressurized freshwater system gives you the ability to make and store water with ample tankage offering hot, cold, and filtered clean freshwater.
Upon entry, you see on starboard Rejoice’s offshore galley. The U shaped galley with its fixed grab bar, gimbaled 2-burner stove/oven with adjustable pot holders and high countertop fiddles provide safety while underway. The spacious main salon with 6’3” headroom is attractive with satin finished mahogany woodwork. The headliner is white and accented with mahogany. The salon has an “L” shaped dinette to port and a straight settee to starboard. All settee backs are bottom-hinged and top latched with custom stainless handles, opening to reveal extra storage behind. There are lee cloths on both the starboard and port settees. The starboard settee has additional storage beneath the forward two seat cushions. The air conditioning unit is installed under the aft most starboard seat cushion. Fuel and freshwater tanks are hidden beneath the port side settee seat cushions and under the cabin sole. Six adults may comfortably dine at the centrally-located highly-practical drop-leaf-table that optimizes onboard pathways and space when folded. It has a top-opening bottle locker for safe storage of your favorite beverages or other items as the bottle divider are removeable. There are cabinets to port and starboard, outboard of both settees, with the louvered door lockers flanking the bookshelves on either side. Forward next to the main bulkhead is a solid mahogany mast support for the deck stepped mast.
The wet head offers easy to clean, white wipe down surfaces, and includes a porcelain sink. There are cabinets outboard and below, mirror on the forward bulkhead. The sink nozzle deploys as a handheld, or bracket-mounted shower. A teak shower grate enables easy showering in this space. The opening hatch, port, and solar vent allow moister to escape.
Up in the forepeak there are two berths that convert into a vee-berth with the insert. There is ample stowage above and below and in addition a number of lockers. Both berths have lee cloths. Overhead there is a skylight and opening portlight to provide great air circulation. The vee-berth cushions were re-upholstered (2020). Headroom is 6′ 1″. Moving aft thru the salon you see the nav station opposite the galley to port of the companionway stairs. It is a comfortable well lit space for navigation, routing, weather forecasting, business, or just dreaming of distant coastlines. The forward facing top opening nav table is large with plenty of room to store & review charts. There is an iPad mounted on the forward console for charting and personal uses.
Along the passageway to the aft stateroom to starboard is a pair of insulated double locking doors, which open to reveal the engine room. This is a separate room that houses the main engine, the generator and the vital components of the vessel. Most maintenance tasks are easily performed in the readily accessible engine room.
The aft cabin with its traditional double-single split arrangement sleeps three comfortably and the separated berths are ideal for families with children. Between the split berths are a dressing seat, mirror, bedside shelf with fiddles, and floor space to dress within the cabin. There is a centerline bookshelf and two small lockers aft and cabinets to both port and starboard. A hanging locker is immediately forward of the single to port. The aft single is equipped with Hallberg’s standard lee cloth making it a highly functional offshore sea berth; complimenting the two other sea berths in the main salon.
Galley
Counter tops are white laminate, and there are sliding door cabinets above and outboard the counter as well as louvered lockers. Additional drawers and lockers are below the counter. The propane stove/oven is situated in the middle of the outboard counter and the extra-deep double stainless steel sink is located on the aft counter with both manual and pressure water faucets. The well insulated refrigerator box is on the outboard aft corner of the counter and the freezer box is located behind the nav table.

Hull and Deck
The construction of Rejoice was certified by Germanischer Lloyd to Category “A” (unlimited ocean voyages) standards and a plate evidencing such is affixed on the wall behind the nav station. This industry standard encompasses many different elements of build quality. The laminated GRP hull is formed using ISO-Polyester and Isophtalic gelcoat. There is close cell foam insulating and strengthening the hull above waterline and the deck protecting against heat and cold as well as a sound barrier. Forward between the anchor locker and forward stateroom, there is a watertight bulkhead. All of the reinforcements below the cabin sole and engine foundation are all GRP and the lead keel is externally bolted to fiberglass keel stub.
