The Farr 50 Pilot House is possibly one of the most coveted cruising designs on the market today. Farr 50s are well known for their comfortable accommodations, performance sailing, and complete systems for self sufficient living. DUNVEGAN is one of the last in the series of design #373 to be built. Her three cabin and head configuration is ideal for a variety of crew configurations, giving everyone enough personal space on passages or weekend adventures. Her pilot house provides exceptional views of your cruising grounds and makes the interior feel like a much larger yacht. DUNVEGAN’S advantages beyond her sister ships include a reinforced Kevlar bow section, redundant independent autopilot systems, and a new rudder. Her retractable bow thruster and fresh bottom paint (May 2024) lets her slice through the water with ease. She has hydraulic furling and electric primary winches to assist in shorthanded sailing. DUNVEGAN has been purposefully used over the past 12 years by her current owners, and her location in Seattle makes her highly desirable along with the exceptional care she has received over her lifetime. Her owners have decided the time has come to move on, so DUNVEGAN is ready for a new family to adventure with.

Satin finished teak cabinetry adds to the warmth and white overhead panels keep the space bright. All interior lights are warm LED’s.
To starboard in the guest cabin is the ensuite head. Standing headroom in the separate shower stall is 6’2”. The shower pan has a raised Corian lip to help contain grey water. Horizontal surfaces are Corian throughout and white laminate covers the walls and overhead making the space easy to clean. Aft in the space is a manual freshwater flush toilet, and storage. A single basin stainless sink is just forward with more storage outboard along the hull with a portlight above.
Moving aft, outside the guest cabin, on the port side, is the day head. The compact head has a Vacuflush toilet, single basin stainless steel sink and handheld shower. The teak grate covers the drain for the shower sump and compliments space nicely. An opening portlight in the hull side provides ventilation and light along with LED overhead lights.

On the port side is a forward-facing navigation station with a helm chair on a swivel. Here, you are able to plot a course, communicate with other vessels or sip your morning coffee. The flip up chart table provides storage for plotting tools or keys and below is a cupboard for manuals or books. The machinery space is accessible centerline under the teak and holly sole in the salon by way of a hatch and gas hinges that support the burly panel. This space allows you to work on the main engine, generator, watermaker, fuel or hydraulic systems. The modest companionway has three steps and several handholds for maneuvering safely. These steps fold open for more storage.
Descending into the galley from the main salon is a deep stainless sink outboard, 24VDC water cooled refrigerator and freezer, gas cooktop and oven, 220VAC: microwave, toaster, and blender. There is ample storage outboard for oils and spices with utensil drawers inboard.
Continuing aft is the master stateroom with vanity table, clothes closet, and storage cabinets across the entire width of the boat. the bunk here is a conventional queen size. Storage is plentiful. The deck layout on Dunvegan is designed such that offshore passages are safe and there is plentiful space for lounging time for inshore cruising. Below the waterline she has a long waterline and a wing keel for better upwind performance. Her bottom is freshly coated with two layers of Petit Trinidad bottom paint and epoxy barrier coat. Her hull is white gel coat with a single blue boot and cove stripe. Dunvegan is also equipped with a retractable bow thruster for minimal drag when stowed. Her construction is proven and robust with vacuum-sandwich construction using divinycell core with fiberglass reinforcement and a Kevlar bow section for added security in high latitudes.
Upon boarding Dunvegan, you are met with sturdy stainless handholds and fixtures. Forward she has an anchor locker and a large forepeak for storage immediately aft. The forepeak serves as a watertight bulkhead with an independent automatic bilge pump with alarms at the helm station and nav station. Moving aft her teak side decks are wide with a 2” toe rail with solid teak cap rail. The decks have been maintained and sealed with Boracal every fall to prevent growth and deterioration. The lifelines are slightly higher than average with a boarding gate on the port and starboard side. ¾ of the way aft is a step up into the secure center cockpit that Farr 50’s are known for. The sheltered helm station has great visibility for watch standing and docking. Dunvegan comes complete with a full cockpit enclosure with a stainless frame. All the way aft is amazing access to storage and lounge space. Built into the port and starboard stern pulpit are ‘princess seats’ perfect for sitting back taking it all in.
