Simply Splendid is a ideal Pacific Northwest cruising platform with comfortable accommodations and great sailing characteristics. With her roller furling headsail and control lines leading aft to maximize simplicity, she easily sailed with a shorthanded crew. Her comfortable cockpit is fitted with a hard top dodger and full enclosure, and is a fantastic space to relax whether on a long reach or stern tied in a small cove. A wide swimstep is ideal for boarding dinghies and docks — and for swimming! Down below, Simply Splendid’s well-conceived two stateroom layout comfortably accommodates two couples for extended cruising, and her spacious galley and salon space are fantastic for entertaining guests. Her Espar hydronic heater keeps the cabin warm during the off season.
Interior accommodations
Below decks, Simply Splendid is finished with teak cabinetry with fresh white laminated horizontal surfaces. She has teak and holly veneered floor boards atop the white gel coated hull pan. Her interior is well lit by reading lights and overhead lights and ample hatches to allow sunlight to flow through her open salon.
Beginning forward, Simply Splendid’s forward stateroom is far more spacious than one expects from a 35 foot boat. Her walk around berth configuration provides easy access. There are hanging lockers to port and starboard. There are two reading lights in the space and an overhead hatch that provides ventilation.
The head is easily accessed from either the forward cabin or the main salon. The bright smooth surfaces are easy to maintain and are timeless with the light teak trim. There is a separate shower stall aft and outboard. The toilet is forward of the shower stall and there is a counter along the aft bulkhead.
Next aft is the spacious main salon. To port is a settee and table. The aft end of the settee also functions as the seat for the aft/outboard facing nav station. To starboard, there are two seats separated by a table. Shelves run along the hull sides. There is a hanging locker forward and starboard. Handrails are mounted along the cabin sides. There is lots of light in this space due to hull side ports, fixed portlights and opening ports in the cabin sides and a large hatch.
The U-shaped galley is to starboard at the base of the companionway. Forward and just off centerline is a double stainless sink with a single action faucet. There is a top loading storage locker outboard. The stove with oven is at the base of the U. The top loading freezer is aft, with top and front loading refrigerator inboard. Above the stove and countertop, outboard, is storage for dishes with cabinets and a microwave oven above.
The private aft cabin is a great space for guests on an extended voyage or couples that prefer the aft cabin for their own. This space is laid out for sleeping athwartships in a nearly king sized berth. There is a locker at the forward end of the space with a shelf that runs above the berth the length of the cabin.

Simply Splendid features a fin keel and spade rudder, giving her good sailing performance and maneuverability in tight spaces.
Double lifelines surround the deck, with boarding gates to port and starboard, and walk through access from the cockpit to the swimstep. Her cockpit is protected by a hard top dodger and full enclosure. Simrad navigation electronics are installed at the binnacle.
The hull of the Catalina 350 is built in solid, hand laid fiberglass with a vinylester skincoat. A molded structural grid provides stiffness. Her deck is cored with end grain balsa, with aluminum plates embedded in areas where hardware is installed and tapped.
