The Swiftsure Buying Process
01
Focus the Search
We begin with a conversation. Where you sail. How often. With whom. Offshore, coastal, or extended cruising. This context shapes how we move the project ahead.
02
Narrow the Options
Based on your plans, we identify yachts that make sense structurally, practically, and financially. This may include yachts currently listed or opportunities not yet public.
03
Evaluation and Guidance
We collect information and personally view boats with our clients to confirm condition. We highlight strengths, limitations, and likely ownership realities so there are no surprises later.
04
Offer and Negotiation
We guide you through pricing, offers, and negotiation with a clear view of the market and the specific yacht.
05
Survey, Sea Trial, and Completion
We support surveys, sea trials, and closing, helping interpret findings and next steps so you move forward with confidence.
06
After Sales Support
After the sale is completed, we remain available as a resource, assisting with training and consulting.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the boat buying process work with Swiftsure Yachts?
The team at Swiftsure Yachts will guide you through every step, from identifying the right boat, making an offer, completing surveys, and closing. Our goal is to make the process clear, efficient, and enjoyable from start to finish.
What happens once I’m ready to make an offer?
We prepare a Purchase and Sale Agreement outlining all terms, along with detailedspecifications of the boat. Once accepted, a deposit (typically 10%) is placed in a secure trustaccount.
Do I need a survey before buying a boat?
We strongly recommend a full out-of-water survey and sea trial to evaluate the boat’scondition. These are typically completed in one day and provide peace of mind before movingforward. Boat purchases involving a loan will require a survey, and increasingly insurancecompanies are requiring surveys.
Can you recommend a marine surveyor?
We provide a list of qualified surveyors, but the choice is always yours to avoid conflicts ofinterest. We encourage you to interview and select someone trusted and well-reviewed.
How long does it take to buy a boat?
Most transactions take about one month:
- 21 days for inspections and acceptance
- 7–10 days for closing
Who handles closing?
An independent third-party (typically Pacific Maritime Title in the PNW) manages closing, including paperwork, registration, and fund transfers.
