Interior Accommodations

The interior of the Jeanneau 409 has a modern feel with light wood and a liberal use of white overhead and hull panels, nicely accented by espresso color upholstery. Large cabin side and hull windows provide lots of light below. There are curtains for the main salon windows and built in Oceanair screens/blinds on the hatches.

The master stateroom is forward with a large v-berth. There are windows in the hull sides with shades that slide closed. A large bent hatch overhead allows a lot of light into the space. A shelf runs along the sides of the hull above the berth. Aft, there is ample storage in various lockers with a large locker with shelves and hanging space to port and starboard for his and her storage. Against the bulkhead facing aft there is a desk with a chair that may be affixed to the cabin sole.

The salon is configured with a U-shaped dinette to starboard and a straight settee to port. The table has a folding leaf and a locker for bottles in the base. There is storage outboard and beneath the settees and in lockers above along the side of the hull. Hull side windows at seated eye level, large cabin side portlights and two hatches provide a bright space.

The nav station is aft and two port, with a table that may be used facing either forward or aft. The tabletop lifts for storage below. Close at hand is the yacht’s electrical distribution panel, battery and tank monitors, stereo and VHF radio.

The galley to starboard is a J-shape with wood fiddles, a smoked acrylic backsplash, and Corian type countertops. The double stainless sink has inserts for additional counter space. There is ample storage space in lockers below the counter, including a trash bin mounted on the main locker door. There is a large top opening refrigerator compartment with bin storage. Aft is the two burner Eno stove/oven. Outboard is a series of six lockers, one with configurable pegs for china storage.

The aft stateroom is well lit with a large port opening into the cockpit, hull side window and two hatches. There is a wide quarterberth that provides ample sleeping accommodations for two. Forward and outboard is a hanging locker and locker with shelves.

The head is to port adjacent to the companionway, with counter and sink forward. A mirror is mounted on the forward bulkhead. A acrylic door separates the forward section of the compartment when the space is being used as a shower. The Jabsco electric head is located aft.

Through a door in the aft bulkhead in the head, one can access a large storage locker. There are storage shelves with removable bins along the hull side.

Sail handling systems are configured for ease of use, with the jib sheets and German style mainsheet system travelling under the deck to primary winches located just forward of the helm. Other control lines like mainsail and headsail halyards and reef lines are led to winches on the cabin top.

The T-shaped cockpit is configured with twin wheels and a centerline table with stainless handrails. The radar chartplotter is mounted on the aft end of the table and may be rotated in any direction. Cockpit sole and seats are covered in teak. There is a fold down swim platform. Storage is in cockpit lockers below the port and starboard seats and a locker aft. There is a propane locker configured for two bottles.
