To see a Mason 44 anchored in a serene cove is to behold a beautiful yacht with its rising sheer line, graceful overhangs, and well-proportioned cabin profile. To sail this classic blue water cruiser is to experience a well-mannered, honest and pleasing vessel. To glimpse the interior accommodation is to bear witness to the artisans and craftsman of Ta Shing at the peak of their trade. To purchase this well cared for Mason 44 is a privilege of ownership in this irreplaceable yacht of quality design, build, and capability. Trinity guaranteed to tug on the heartstrings of any buyer appreciating a contemporary classic cruising yacht.
Trinity has had three owners since new. Her original owner moored in Newport Beach, CA and locally cruised Southern California. The second owner purchased Trinity in 2006 and sailed her north to Seattle where she cruised the Pacific Northwest. The third owners purchased her in 2013 and she has continued to enjoy light use in Salish Sea waters and a active maintenance and upgrade program. In 2021, Trinity’s teak deck was removed by S3 Marine in Seattle. All fittings were removed and rebedded and her decks painted with Awlgrip at a cost of $120,000. Other notable recent improvements include: New lifelines in 2024, Iverson’s Designs dodger and full enclosure in 2022, 290 watts of solar on the bimini in 2022, salon upholstery in 2024, new windlass and anchor chain in 2021 and a new genoa and stack pack mainsail cover in 2018 and many other projects to keep her up to date.

Accommodations
The interior is accessed via the companionway ladder offset to starboard. A stainless steel threshold plate protects the teak companionway trim. A five step teak companionway ladder is constrained to port by a bulkhead and to starboard by a stainless steel handrail. Inlaid rubber provides traction to the ladder steps. Teak handholds are fitted to port and starboard at just inside the companionway top. Quick access stowage is immediately located in four small open bins to starboard of the ladder. A tall hanging locker is just forward well placed for receiving wet foul weather gear. Additional “quick access” storage is in a sliding door locker to starboard and on the fiddled shelf outboard and up high. Red courtesy lights illuminate the companionway ladder and entire cabin sole at night when underway. A slide out dedicated trash bin is also outboard at the forward end of this short passageway; accessible from the galley and close to the companionway.
The design, materials, and execution of interior space and joinery are absolutely first class and a benchmark for elegant cruising yachts. Joinery is of hand rubbed satin varnished Burmese teak. Drawer sides are of solid teak and dovetailed. The overhead cabin liner is a white Formica/marine plywood panel: removable and secured with varnished teak battens and stainless steel screws. Handholds are well located for secure offshore passage. The cabin sole is solid teak and contrasting spruce over marine plywood. Abundant overhead opening hatches and cabin side ports provide light and ventilation. Cowl vents and dorade boxes ventilate air even in stormy conditions. Screens and sliding interior closures are fitted at each cowl vent. Interior lighting consists of well placed overhead dome lights and focused reading lights. Locker and cabinet doors are louvered and fitted with positive elbow catches. Drawers are fitted with unique Ta Shing finger hole/sprung acrylic catches. Cabinet and door hinges are “lift off” design for easy removal. Headroom is effectively six feet four inches. Upholstery has just been replaced in 2024 and is in like new condition.
Trinity has a sensible interior layout for extended blue water cruising. Ample storage space on deck and below, sufficient water and fuel tankage, and secure yet airy living spaces make this an appropriate design both offshore and as an in port home or weekend cruiser. Starting forward is a private guest stateroom with V-berth. Aft to port is a head with separate stall shower. Storage lockers are to starboard across the forward passageway from the head. A bright and inviting salon with large dinette is to port and straight settee to starboard. The salon is open over partial bulkheads to the port side galley and starboard side navigation station. The enclosed aft stateroom is to port of the companionway and storage lockers are to starboard.
The forward cabin features a V-berth measuring 6’ 6” long by 7’ 3” aft and 2’ 8” forward. An upholstered mattress is three inches thick. A removable filler board and foam pad infill the “V” for couples berthing. Forward of the berth, hinged/louvered double doors access the anchor/bow locker. Varnished teak staving lines the hull sides outboard of the berth. Below the deck edge above the berth on each side are double storage lockers with a bookshelf aft. A cedar-lined hanging locker is aft to starboard. Four large and two smaller drawers are fitted beneath the berth. A large 24” by 24” overhead hatch and two opening ports provide natural light and ventilation. An overhead dome light, two reading lights and 110V outlet are also fitted. Exiting this stateroom via a bifold, locking privacy door, one enters the forward passageway.
The head compartment is to port, just forward of the main bulkhead and entered through a locking privacy door with louvered lower section. The head compartment is fabricated from white gel-coat finished fiberglass and trimmed with varnished teak. This creates a bright and easy to maintain surface while retaining the overall Mason/PAE/TaShing elegance. The electric flush Dometic head is outboard. A storage locker with shelves is outboard of the head behind double, varnished and louvered teak doors. Along the forward bulkhead is a vanity with stainless steel sink and single lever faucet, a tall curved teak fiddle, fresh water foot pump, storage cabinet beneath the sink, and teak medicine cabinet above with mirrored door. Aft is a large stall shower with teak grating, outboard seat, shower nozzle on hose. Storage lockers are outboard beneath the deck edge and under the seat. A small overhead hatch, cowl vent, and opening side port ventilate the head compartment. Dome lights in the head and shower stall and 110V GFCI outlets are also provided.
The centrally located main salon is inviting and well configured for dining, lounging, or sleeping. A “U” shaped dinette is to port. The varnished teak table measures 2’ 8” wide by 3’ 2” long and is mounted on a stout, adjustable pedestal. The table is fitted with low fiddles and a small drawer beneath the inboard edge. Seat cushions in the salon are shaped for comfort while both dining and lounging. These cushions were new in 2024 – utilizing high density foam, Ultraleather and Bella Dura woven fabric. Bin storage is located outboard of the settee backs and beneath the outboard dinette seat. Two stainless steel water tanks are beneath the forward and aft seat cushions. Along the hull side, above the seat back an open bookshelf is flanked by double door storage lockers. Two reading lights are inboard of these cabinets and mounted beneath the side decks. To starboard is a 6’6” long by 20” wide settee. The seat bottom slides out to make a 31” wide sleeping berth. The seat back hinges up to horizontal and secures from the overhead with solid stainless steel rod to make an additional sleeping berth. Outboard of the seatback cushion are three storage bins. A stainless steel water tank is beneath the settee. One reading light is mounted aft, below the side deck. A Weems & Plath gimbaled, brass yacht lamp is mounted on the port and starboard main bulkhead. Storage cabinets outboard mirror those on the port side. Forward of this settee is a chest of three drawers. A hinged/louvered storage cabinet is outboard and above this drawer set. A very large hanging locker is further forward and opposite the head door. Six dome lights, three opening ports, one cowl vent and a 24” by 24” deck hatch provide light and ventilation to the salon. Three 110V AC double outlets are located at the shelves.
The outboard facing navigation station is to starboard. An upholstered seat with backrest swivels on its stainless steel frame beneath the chart table when not in use. The chart table measures 3’ 2” wide and 2’ 11” deep. A section of this table hinges open to access the chart drawer. Above the chart table on the partial bulkhead are the ship’s clock and barometer and teak rack for accessories. Outboard beneath the deck edge are the radar, chartplotter, VHF, stereo and bookshelf. Aft and flush mounted into an angled cabinet are the inverter/charger control and electrical switch panel. Beneath the chart table, a narrow hinged/louvered door cabinet is forward and a bank of three drawers is aft. A deck prism, dome light, and Aquasignal focused beam chart lamp illuminate this navigation station. A 110V double outlet powers portable electronics.
The galley is aft of dinette and partitioned from the salon by a low bulkhead. Galley finish is white laminate with varnished teak trim. Starting inboard, beneath the forward galley counter is a bank of three drawers. The double stainless steel sink has two basins measuring 10” wide by 10” deep by 13” wide. This sink is fitted with a single lever Moen hot/cold freshwater faucet, fresh and salt water foot pumps, and a pull out sprayer nozzle. Sink covers are of white laminate with teak trim. Double louvered doors access storage below the sink. Outboard of the sink is a large top opening bin storage, ideal for storing posts pans and bulk food items. Outboard, beneath the deck edge are three louvered door cabinets. The forward and aft have single hinged doors while the middle has double sliding doors. The Seaward propane three burner stove with oven is below these cabinets and gimball mounted in a stainless steel lined space. A stainless steel “crash bar” is fitted in front of the stove to protect the cook while underway. Beneath the stove is a “frying pan” locker with fold down, louvered teak door. A deck prism is above the stove and set into a stainless steel heat shield. Aft, beneath the countertop are the fridge and freezer. The top loading three cubic foot freezer is outboard. Inboard is the three cubic foot fridge with top and front access. A 5” wide spice/storage shelf is mounted midway up to the overhead storage cabinet with double, louvered doors. On centerline is a tall storage locker with a combination of shelves and drawers. The galley is fitted with a dome light, cowl vent and 110V outlets.
Immediately to port of the companionway and through a sliding privacy door is the aft stateroom. The double berth measures 6’ 5” long by 4’ 6” wide forward and narrows to 3’ 7” wide aft. A custom 6” thick mattress sits on a thermal insulating matt to prevent sub mattress condensation. Below the bunk are two large drawers and bin locker. Outboard, up high below the deck edge is an open shelf with two hinged door cabinets aft. Inboard and aft on centerline is a chest with four drawers with a fiddled top and mirror above it. Inboard, aft of the companionway ladder is a large hanging locker. A cabin fan, 110V outlet, two reading lights, and one dome light are fitted. Natural light and ventilation are provided by two opening ports and a 12” by 18” opening overhead hatch located beneath the cockpit dodger (able to remain open in rain).

Deck and Hull
Trinity has a white hull with blue bottom paint, blue boot stripe and a gold cover stripe. A square teak toe rail surrounds her decks and provides secure footing while heeled. The side and foredeck are fiberglass with Awlgrip painted nonskid. A low profile coachroof is topped with molded in grey non-skid and fitted with teak handrails. The cockpit coamings are varnished teak. At the coachroof top corners an eyebrow trim of varnished teak accentuates the graceful lines of the cabin profile. A full cockpit enclosure by Iverson’s Designs protects the cockpit and companionway from rain and spray.
Ground tackle and deck hardware are what one would expect on a first class blue water cruising yacht. Forward is a double anchor roller with anchor retaining pins welded into the stemhead fitting. Six closed chocks and six mooring cleats are well placed. Stainless steel stanchions with double lifelines and midships boarding gates are fitted between the bow pulpit and stern pushpit. Inclement weather ventilation is assured with five large stainless steel cowl vents set on dorade boxes. Stainless steel guards protect each cowl vent. Massive stainless steel “granny bars” to port and starboard of the mast will allow crew to hoist and reef sails securely. Large opening deck hatches and opening side ports keep the interior light and well ventilated.
The aft cockpit is generous in size without dangerously large volume; totally appropriate for offshore storm conditions. Port and starboard settees are will over seven feet long and eighteen inches wide with foot high backs. The settees are overlayed with teak and rubber decking. Wide, varnished teak boards top the raised coamings. The cockpit sole is fitted with a removable teak grating. The stainless steel Edson steering pedestal is set well aft. Dual engine controls, a binnacle, and binnacle guard with Navpod and chartplotter/radar are mounted on the pedestal. A dedicated propane locker with space for two large bottles is forward to starboard. A very large cockpit locker is beneath the port settee and the quarter locker is accessed via hatches in the aft settee. Coaming storage “cuddy bins” are trimmed with stainless steel and nicely store winch handles and other gear. Sailing instruments and GPS displays are mounted to port of the companionway. The engine control/display is mounted in an acrylic covered coaming recess to starboard of the helm. A panel with switches for deck lights, navigation lights, windlass controls, sailing instruments, autopilot control, and battery parallel is mounted aft of the engine panel. Just aft is another recess panel with acrylic cover with the autopilot control. Across a settee height bridgedeck, the companionway is offset to starboard and well protected by the cockpit dodger. A set of three teak drop boards or a set of solid/screened plastic washboards join the teak-trimmed acrylic sliding top close the companionway. A dome vent, twelve by eighteen inch opening hatch and opening port are well protected beneath the cockpit dodger and allow ventilation into the aft stateroom in rain or spray when other hatches are exposed.
