PRUDENCE can do it all in style. She is a well maintained Sabre 402 that shows impeccably. This Jim Taylor design is one of the best performance cruisers on the water, named best Overall Boat of the Year from Cruising World Magazine in 1997.  Whether you’re looking for a performance oriented cruiser or want to surprise a few people on the racecourse, this is a boat you must consider.

Her interior looks almost new with beautifully finished Cherry and Chrome fixtures.  She is nicely arranged for two cruising couples. The teak and holly floors have been covered since new and are perfect. The cherry interior is in excellent condition and looks gorgeous.  All of the interior lights with the exception of the reading lights are now LEDs. The Sabre 402 is one of the prettiest boats they ever built, and this boat is no exception. You can’t pull into a harbor without someone saying WOW, what a beautiful boat.

She is swift and nimble with her fin keel, yet very easy to sail and manage short handed. The construction of Sabres is done in the traditional method of laminated bulkheads to the hull for maximum stiffness and strength. This boat offers greater stability, comfort and security than many other comparable boats.

Interior Accomodations

The forward cabin features a well-designed v-berth, providing ample foot space for two occupants.  The vee-berth is large and comfortable with a new custom latex mattress topper and custom fitted sheets (2022). Storage includes two drawers, a cabinet below, and three compartments by the cushions. A bench seat to port offers a convenient dressing area, with a large louvered cabinet above. To starboard, there are bookshelves, drawers, a full-size hanging locker, and a sink with a mirrored cabinet. Three overhead hatches and two opening ports ensure excellent ventilation and lighting.

The main salon offers an inviting space with an L-shaped settee to port, a straight settee to starboard, and a cherry drop-leaf table that seats up to six. Storage includes bookshelves, louvered cabinets, and space for wine or bottles. A large overhead hatch, four ports, and sizable windows provide natural light and ventilation.

Aft of the salon, the nav station to starboard is spacious. Opposite, the U-shaped galley is designed for cooking underway, featuring louvered cabinets, a microwave, a four-burner stove with oven, large refrigeration/freezer units, and ample counter space. A dual stainless sink, pull-out garbage bin, and various storage compartments enhance functionality.

The head and separate shower stall to starboard includes elegant Corian countertops, ample storage, and a teak bench. A retractable shower head and wet locker for foul weather gear add practicality. Two hatches and an opening port provide excellent ventilation.

The quarter berth, aft of the galley, offers a spacious double berth, a padded bench seat, and extensive storage, including drawers, a hanging locker, and overhead cabinets. Beautiful cherry trim and additional shelf space complete this comfortable cabin.
