CIVITA features a redesigned bulb keel with 2,000 extra pounds of ballast, customized to the boat by Ron Holland himself. Additionally, she was repowered with a Yanmar diesel and saildrive by the original owner.

In the mid 2000s, her second owner had the teak deck replaced, and took the opportunity to replace the classic Swan winch farm with an updated and optimized deck hardware layout. CIVITA was outfitted with new Doyle Sails around this time as well.

Sailed seasonally for the New York Yacht Club’s club racing circuit and day sailing, CIVITA participated in Block Island Race Week on several occasions, spent time in Nantucket where her owners had a home and also ventured around Buzzards Bay. CIVITA was cared for by the Jamestown Boatyard in Jamestown, Rhode Island, which is an authorized Nautor Swan Service Center. After being serviced, she was shrink wrapped and put on the hard during the fall and winter months.

Her current owner purchased CIVITA and shipped her to the Pacific Northwest in 2021. This required removal of the keel and standing rigging, all of which was thoroughly inspected before being reinstalled by local professionals. Read on to see how this truly unique and turnkey Swan has been continuously cared for.

Accommodations

CIVITA’s warm teak interior showcases the classic Swan quality and provides comfort for extended offshore cruising. She has two berths and two heads, both equipped with Blake Lavac toilets—one electric, one manual (rebuilt 2023). The salon features generous seating with a fold-out teak table, and bright LED lighting throughout. A Weems & Plath ship’s clock and barometer add to the traditional nautical ambiance.

The forward cabin includes ample storage and private head access. The aft section offers comfortable guest accommodations and access to the second head. The galley is fully equipped with a Force 10 three-burner propane stove and oven, microwave (2023), SeaFrost refrigeration systems (DC5000 12V and Shore Assist SA-II), and a Whale domestic water pump (2021).

Comfort is ensured by an Espar forced air diesel heater (2021), an Isotemp 5-gallon stainless water heater, and ventilation throughout. A Village Marine Little Wonder 8 GPH watermaker (2022) supports extended cruising.
