This Bestway Yachtfisher will provide its future owners with a beautiful platform for day trips in the Puget Sound or extended adventures to Alaska. This is the ultimate vessel for living aboard in the Pacific Northwest, she features an enclosed aft deck salon and fly bridge complete with a hard dodger and fully framed in enclosure. The upper helm station provides an excellent viewpoint while underway and for docking there are two micro-commander stations on the aft deck, one on the fly bridge and one in the main salon, totaling four control stations in all.
The large main salon area is perfect for entertaining and the lower galley is large enough for several people to function in. The two staterooms, both with en-suite heads, deliver comfort and privacy for couples to enjoy their time together for extended periods. The vessel is also equipped with a washer in the owners’ stateroom, Webasto heating system, water maker, generator and batteries replaced in 2019. The current owners have regularly serviced this yacht on all fluid changes and routine maintenance and made updates as necessary. Interior Layout
The forward private cabin features a double bunk offset to the starboard side with an en-suite head, overhead hatch and lots of built-in storage. There is over 6 feet of headroom giving the already large stateroom more volume. The forward head stretches the privacy of the forward cabin aft. It features a manual toilet and wet room for showering. The hatch allows for good airflow and has lots of storage.
The galley is situated aft of the forward cabin and spans the entire width of the boat. Instead of trying to cram a galley on one side and seating on the other, the designer took care to allow the entire area for galley operations. Copious amounts of storage, creating a breakfast pantry space, are to starboard with access to the freezer through the counter top. Opposite to port are the fridge, stove/oven, microwave with a vent fan and single basin sink. The fridge is marine grade and stands over 5’ tall supplying lots of space for provisioning on long trips. The spice rack and large cabinetry for storing pots and pans are easily accessible while cooking as well.
Up the four steps is the main salon with the lower helm station to starboard and nav station to port. The DC breaker panel is at the helm station and tidily laid out with access to the back of it and all other electronics via a panel in galley over the freezer. There is lots of space for a full-sized couch and another chair for entertaining and over 6’ of headroom in the main salon. The windows on all sides allow for a good lookout while operating from inside on a passage. In 2017 all the salon windows were replaced and have all been recently caulked and re painted to ensure their integrity. The sliding starboard door allows for easy access onto the deck for docking or anchoring if needed and makes for good airflow in the hot summer weather. The portable air conditioner also keeps this living space at a reasonable temperature for added comfort. The living space is extended up five more steps onto the enclosed sundeck area. This space features a full canvas enclosure updated in 2018 with varnished teak doors on the port and starboard side to further close the space off to the elements. The patio table and chairs make this an ideal spot to enjoy the afternoon and evening with friends out of the sun and wind.
Moving up the five more steps to the fly bridge gives you a panoramic view of your surroundings. The hard top dodger and full enclosure of this space can only be fully appreciated in person. The bench seating, full engine controls with gauges and navigation make it the ideal spot while on a passage.
Back in the main salon and down four steps, is the master cabin and head. This spacious cabin offers a centerline walk around queen bed lots of storage and a Splendide washing machine and 6’ 3” of headroom. The high perimeter sliding windows let a generous amount of light and airflow into the cabin but still maintain sufficient amount of privacy while at a dock and the aft facing Bomar deck hatch provides emergency egress. The two huge hanging lockers, 12 storage cabinets, 5 drawers and overhead perimeter storage makes this space very livable. A safe is also hidden away and mounted in one of these storage cabinets providing a space for valuables while traveling. The cream overhead and deep caramel woodwork is artfully crafted for a polished interior space found infrequently on a vessel like this.
The head features a Dometic Master flush toilet with a household size bowl, 4 storage areas and a separate enclosed shower tub. The shower tub has a stunning 5’ 11” of headroom with a handheld shower faucet.
Hull and Deck
Catsmando’s hull is painted with a white gel coat with navy blue painted accents. Two lower windows on the port and starboard side define the aft cabin area. Six windows in total make up the port and starboard salon windows with three forward facing windows, the middle that opens. On the starboard side there is a sliding door to easily access the lower helm station when docking. Above the salon windows is a stainless grab rail and another on the cabin top when you get forward of the house. The foredeck is painted with white non-skid and compliments the recessed decks making for a secure feeling forward. Mounted just forward of the main house are two fiberglass storage bins for extra mooring lines or deck wash products.
On the stainless pulpit surrounding the bow is storage for fenders while under way. 8’ aft of the bow the upper lifeline transitions to teak and the lower becomes a covered wire lifeline with stainless stanchions. Midships the teak handrail flips open for boarding complete with a single flip down step in the hull to enable ease of boarding.
The aft upper and lower decks are teak that show lots of life left and have been well cared for. The lower deck opens out to the swim platform via a gate in the transom. There is a swim ladder with three steps. The dinghy davit is also mounted here with at least a 400lb capacity. Mounted on the davit is a stern tie spool for deep water anchoring up in the San Juans or Alaska. There are three rod holders recessed in the teak cap rail of the stern which also provides a place for the Magma grill to be mounted temporarily. The water fill is on the port side of the cap rail, and just inboard on both port and starboard side are the Micro Command throttle units. Under the countertop on the starboard side is a sink with cold pressure water and storage below. There is a 30Amp shore power plug and a plug for pressurized water while at the dock. Just inboard of the stairs is a fiberglass bin for storage and the Bomar deck hatch allows ventilation or escape hatch to the aft cabin. The deck hatches offer phenomenal access to the steering gear and aft holding tank and supply extra storage for anchors or spare propellers.
From the lower deck up the six steps into the sun deck and up the other four steps is the fly bridge. Here you are met with 360º views through clear sliding windows and 6’5” of headroom. The aft one slides for access to the hard top dodger and sun deck roof as well. The fly bridge hard top has been recently coated with KIWI grip in white to match the roof deck below it. The interior space has many options for lounging on the three bench seats and one helm chair centerline forward. The two longitudinal benches offer cavernous storage below them and the underside of the steering control panel is accessible through two hatches. From the control panel you can fully operate the vessel without having to transfer stations for different situations. Both searchlights, anchor windlass, horn, all electronics and remote engine start/stop is available at this station.
