Mechanical Systems

In 2020, Gallery Marine in Seattle installed new Mercruiser engines. The engines have been serviced annually by Gallery and she has been stored in fresh water since that time.

Deck and Hull

The deck of the Glacier Bay 3480 is designed for functionality and comfort, with a focus on ease of movement and safety at sea. The large aft cockpit is uncluttered and well-suited for fishing, entertaining, or lounging, featuring integrated seating, flush-mounted rod holders, and in-deck storage lockers. There is a boarding gate to the swim platform at the starboard side. Forward and to port, the countertop lifts to provide access to a counter with built in BBQ and sink. There is a icemaker and storage below. Steps lead to the side decks with sturdy handrails that provide secure passage to the bow. There is good deck space and access to the anchor windlass. The Furuno radar antenna and a solar panel are mounted on the cabin top.

The Glacier Bay 3480 is built with a focus on strength, durability, and performance, utilizing hand-laid fiberglass construction and high-quality resins throughout. The twin-hull design is engineered with solid fiberglass below the waterline for impact resistance. The hulls below the floor are injected with urethane flotation foam to provide floatation. Structural bulkheads are fully bonded to both hulls, enhancing rigidity and distributing loads evenly. The deep, symmetrical hulls are designed for efficient, low-drag performance and feature substantial lifting strakes and chines to improve handling and reduce spray. Her overall construction gives her a quiet ride that’s well-suited to offshore conditions.
