Accommodations:
Descending the four-step ladder from the center cockpit’s companionway hatch, you enter the main salon. First class workmanship using hand selected mahogany is Hallberg-Rassy’s trademark. Pelagic’s interior has been well cared for as is clear by the rich mahogany bulkheads and joinery work. In the HR tradition the teak and holly sole is covered by snap down carpeting, recently replaced in 2021. In the salon to port you have an L-shaped 7’ long settee that converts into a double berth once the backrest is raised. Across to starboard you have is a 6’8” settee, which also converts to a larger berth when the back is raised. There are shelves and cabinets outboard and above the settees for storage as well as storage under the settees. The solid mahogany table has two fold down leafs with storage in the center.
Aft of the salon and to starboard, is the U-shaped ocean-going galley. There is a double basin stainless-steel sink close to centerline with single lever faucet and filtered drinking water tap. The large, three burner, gimbaled stove is outboard with cabinets behind concealed by sliding doors. The fridge is accessed through the countertop hatch in the back corner.  A top-loading freezer is aft of the nav station.  Aft of the salon and to port, is the full-size, forward facing, nav station. There is direct access to the AC/DC breaker panel and Garmin electronics. 
Proceeding forward from the salon, there’s a large head with standup shower. Across from the head and to starboard, is a double door-hanging locker with shelf and cabinet above. Forward of this is the forward cabin. The forward cabin has a traditional v-berth. Overhead you find ample cabinet storage space. There is also storage available below the bunk.
Traveling back through the main salon and aft on the port side through the passageway, you have the engine compartment set beneath the center cockpit. The engine has excellent access through twin doors. Aft of the passageway is a spacious aft cabin with split double and single berths.  An infill makes this one, full beam berth. The aft head is located to starboard in the aft cabin.
When one boards Pelagic they quickly realize this boat has carried her owners safely across oceans and she has been well cared for in return. She has undergone many improvements over the years with virtually everything on the boat replaced or upgraded. She has been outfitted with many redundant systems for safety and convenience at sea.

Deck and Hull
Pelagic is a quintessential Hallberg Rassy through and through. Her hull is painted with the traditional HR paint job of white gel coat, a thin royal blue boot stripe, molded in rub rail with stainless cover and thick royal blue sheer stripe above. Her hull is hand laid with a vinylester based barrier coat under the gel coat to provide more protection against water penetration and print through of the fiberglass. Divinycell PVC closed cell foam is used for strength and insulation in all Hallberg Rassy’s, which doesn’t absorb water like balsa. All parts of the hull are bonded and laminated together providing even more strength. The decks are laid up similarly with Divinycell cores and strong backing plates laminated into place.
The 42 (E) was designed by Olle Enderlein and is admired for her clean flush deck layout. In 2014, at Schooner Creek Boatworks, in Portland OR, Pelagic’s teak decks were removed and replaced with two layers of 6oz cloth and painted with tan Awlgrip. The hull sides, and hard dodger were re-painted with Awlgrip as well, at this time. All deck hardware, hatches, prisms and windlass were removed and rebedded making her weather tight for her 26,000 mile journey. In 2016 the bottom was stripped to gelcoat and repainted with new epoxy barrier coat and 3 coats of ablative bottom paint. Recently she has had her topsides cleaned, polished and waxed.
