I’m the longtime owner of The Chandlery at Winslow Wharf and of Capt. Bob’s Sailing School & Pirate Academy on Bainbridge Island, Washington. I hold a USCG master to 100 tons license and have tens of thousands of offshore miles on a variety of vessels, both power and sail. I live-aboard a custom multihull sailboat that I built to a Robert Harris design.

I’ve built my reputation on helping clients achieve their cruising dreams, be it racing locally or cruising across oceans. I have clients around the world that remain friends. I teach new boat owners docking and navigating skills and coach ocean racers through the Safety at Sea Seminars that I coordinate for The Sailing Foundation. Each year dozens of new boat owners learn basic navigation and sailing skills through the Pirate Academy.

I’m also a member of the board of directors for The Sound Experience, operators of the historic schooner Adventuress providing sailing and environmental education throughout Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. I have a background in architecture and chemistry.

I’m originally from upstate New York but have resided on Bainbridge Island for more than 20 years, enjoying the terrific community surrounding me.
