Detailed Specification

Ranger Tugs from Auburn Washington has been building boats since 1958. They currently have models from 23 to 43 feet and every one of them is very innovative. It takes time aboard to realize just how creative the spaces are utilized and how many different ways you can use them.

The R-23 PEPE' is a good example of just how many things you can do with an outboard powered 23 ft boat. The cockpit can be used for fishing, seating during an outing, congregating during cruising or going to a Husky game. There is a solid locking door for security, seating for guests and an opening window to marry the inside and outside spaces. Moving the engine to the transom allows for massive storage in the cockpit floor. Lockers on either side give access to batteries, lines and fenders. And PEPE' has the optional canvas cover (new 2020) to keep the cockpit dry when not being used. There is a transom door to give access to the swimstep leaning bars for safety and room to fish with down-riggers (pads and outlets installed).

Coming into the cabin you have the galley to starboard with a Kenyon Alcohol/Electric single burner stove and a sink with pressure water forward. There is storage in cabinets below. To port you can flip up the dinette seating to get access to a single berth below the dinette and the electrical panel and heater controls. This bed is great for kids or the family pets.

The dinette seats four and the table goes down to make another single berth. The forward end of the dinette rotates to make for a double seat for passengers to face forward.

On the starboard side forward of the galley is the helm. There is a seat (with a bar) for sitting or standing, wheel for the hydraulic steering, engine controls, VHF, compass and multi-function navigation display. There are opening windows on both sides and four opening hatches above. The bow thruster control is next to the engine display.

Down two steps to starboard is the head under the helm, cabinets and a sink to port and either a v berth or dinette forward. The v berth has a filler piece that makes the bead large enough for a party. There are opening ports and hatches here too.

PEPE' was hauled out for bottom painting and hull buffing in October 2023.

Manufacturer Provided Description

The Ranger Tugs R-23 is a much-anticipated addition to our award-winning lineup of Ranger Tugs. Powered by a standard 200 HP Yamaha outboard or optional 170 HP Volvo diesel Duoprop sterndrive, the R-23 bridges the gap between our popular R-21 EC and R-25 SC models. The first thing you will notice when looking at the R-23 is the dramatic, curved windshield and visor, which is emphasized by several overhead skylights. There is no shortage of light or visibility onboard the R-23, which incorporates four opening roof hatches, sliding side windows, and an opening glass bulkhead, providing a very open and airy feeling inside and out. Opening portlights also allow for a nice cross breeze in the cabin.

The forward cabin on the R-23 has plenty of room for sitting around the teak table, separate sleeping for two or sleeping two together with the filler-cushion. The mid berth is great for kids or storage, and the dinette converts to a sleeper as the third berth. The well-appointed galley on the R-23 is standard with refrigerator/freezer, cooktop, and microwave. The forward head includes a marine toilet with holding tank, shower, sink, and mirror.

The Ranger Tugs R-23 is standard with Garmin 7610 GPS with Depth Sounder/Fish Finder and available with optional HDX radar. VHF to stay in touch, illuminated compass, cabin nightlight, cockpit and exterior side trail lighting, are all standard equipment making the R-23 ready to cruise. The cockpit on the R-23 is built to fish and ready to entertain with standard rod holders, optional downrigger pads & outlets, a folding double seat, and cockpit table.
