More local sailors have chosen the Vision 42 than any other Bavaria model throughout the last 10-plus years. Although the Vision 46 introduced the modern era of the Vision Series and received many accolades, it was the Vision 42 that won the hearts of the vast majority of Vision Series owners and has set the bar as one of the most popular models Bavaria has introduced to the North American market. Key features of the design that set it apart from other boats in its class include, but are not limited to:
- Tall 6-foot 7-inch headroom, with a very bright and airy interior, eliminating any notion of the old "down in the cave" descriptive of sailboat interiors of the past.
- The large side windows of the salon are glass, not plastic. Same goes for the six hull windows. Glass has better clarity and strength than plastic windows, but being a higher cost, is not utilized by most production builders. The added clarity and durability of the Vision 42's glass windows add to the long-term value in this design.
- An offset companionway creates a seating area in the cockpit that is split 60/40, creating a comfortable seating area that does not impede traffic flow through the cockpit. The L-shaped seating to port surrounds a multi-functional cockpit table that can be lowered electrically to bed level at the push of a button, creating an outdoor daybed area usually only reserved for likes of catamarans or much larger monohulls.
- Twin wheels on Jeffa pedestals and all control lines led back to the helm offer the helmsman access to lines, electronics, and controls within arm's length of the wheel. The forward seating area of the cockpit offers a comfortable and safe vantage point for any guests that would rather sit back, enjoy the view, and keep clear of the working section of the cockpit.
- A full height, walk-in storage room/systems room can be accessed via the interior or the cockpit lazarette. The Vision 42 offers overall storage volume, second to none in its class.
- A deep and dry bilge adds further storage and room for systems.
- From its concept, the Vision Series was designed to be upscale of the Cruiser Series, with the private-use market in mind. Only available in a two-cabin layout, and fitted out with higher end, real wood joinery, it is easy to see why it became sought after by local cruisers seeking a 42-foot sailboat designed around their own needs, instead of one packed with extra cabins and heads.
- The Vision 42 can be easily sailed and maneuvered by a solo operator and sets up well for a private owner or couple who primarily use the boat themselves and choose to entertain occasional guests.
Sedna was carefully selected and ordered by her current owners directly from the factory with many options selected, including the Teak interior with Ocean Line floors and cream leatherette upholstery. She arrived well-equipped and has received further substantial upgrades continuously. Sedna is a local BC boat, has never been chartered, never had any accidents or insurance claims, and is now offered for sale with an extensive list of well-chosen cruising gear.
The owners chose adventure and cruised Sedna from Vancouver Island to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico in 2019. In Spring of 2020 they loaded Sedna safely on a freighter and brought her back home to Vancouver Island. Sedna now resides in Ladysmith, BC. This is a clean, well-cared for boat in above-average condition, and is an absolute pleasure to show.
