She has received meticulous care and upgrades by her owners and has spent her life cruising gently in the Pacific Northwest . Her current and previous owners have sailed (together!) on her many miles, most recently to bring her to our docks from Alaska. She is reluctantly only being sold to make room for an expedition style yacht suitable for extreme latitudes.

The Island Packet 380 is a much sought-after model for IP enthusiasts. It has the impressive construction and equipment Island Packets are known for, plus an uncanny amount of storage and tankage for offshore passagemaking. The design makes this 38-footer function like a much larger boat. The galley, head and two sleeping cabins are very spacious. The fold-down salon table opens up the cabin, yet provides ample seating for cruisers to gather round.

Alpha Leonis, named after the brightest star in the Leo constellation, began life in Puget Sound. She then found her way to Newport, Oregon where her second owner showered her with attention and upgrades, including replacing the notorious holding tank with a new, larger fiberglass one. The current owner sailed her to Alaska after further upgrades, including a variable speed bow thruster. The logbook is current and very detailed.

Interior Accommodations

The Island Packet 380’s interior combines a feeling of spaciousness with storage capacity well suited for offshore voyaging. Headroom is 6’5”, and the beam is more than 13’.

The forward cabin features an island double berth, with shelving. Storage is under the flip-up bed and two drawers below. Three cabinets to starboard and two to port round out the storage in the forward cabin.

The head is extremely spacious and features an articulating shower door that screens off half the head. The head is accessed via separate doors from the forward and main cabins.

The main cabin has opposite settees with a fold down table that can extend to the starboard seat. There’s a cabinet forward to starboard, plus shelving and cubbies above both settees. In the settee seats and backs there is abundant storage, including 2-level storage in the seatbacks. A small navigation table and the electrical panel is at the aft end of the port settee.

The generous galley has voluminous top loading fridge/freezer and dry storage. There’s a double stainless sink and a flip-up table over the starboard settee. There’s dedicated storage for plates, utensils and pots and pans.

The aft cabin berth is angled to provide both excellent length and access. The cabin has three cubbies and a full sized three level locker.
