Detailed Specification

The Outremer 50S offers the ultimate in sea worthiness, high speed, space and privacy. It was modernized in 2013 and continued to be maintained and upgraded. The Outremer quality, performance and maintainability are well known. In comparison to the more modern Outremer models, this earlier design follows a much more classic approach and employs the same uncompromising, solid, construction techniques.
The model 50 Standard, designed by Gerard Danson, is the most spacious bridge deck and cockpit model because of its extended beam. The difference between the 50 Standard and the other Outremer models 50/55 light and 45 is most noticeable in the saloon, which provides remarkably spacious living area and standing height. At the same time, the handling of this yacht in marinas and anchorages is proven to be comparably easy as it is not excessively long.
Construction
The hull layup begins with underwater layers of vinylester resin. Both bows include forward crash boxes and bulk heads. Aft, the engine rooms are separated from the living space and accessible from outside. All bulkheads, berths and lockers are laminated to the hull to provide maximum structural rigidity. The decks are infused with 5 mm and 20 mm PVC for structural performance and insulation, and glued and then laminated over the whole length of the joint, which gives it exceptional strength. Strong, molded, polyester dagger boards, with infused polyester daggerboard shafts, allow for excellent close-hauled, upwind sailing performance and balance. Skegs protect the props and support the hulls when beaching. There are extra-large rudder blades provide exceptional maneuverability and course stability.
Accommodations
All central living areas in saloon and hulls, including shower, feature a standing height of 6’6”. To enhance the sailing performance, the hulls are comparably narrow while offering large berths, high above the water line, extended towards the centerline of the vessel. This design helps to sail more quietly and provides improved sea worthiness and speed. The salon is bright, spacious and inviting. This central living space offers everything you may need including a wide angle outside view while standing or seated. Notably, the salon on the 50S is much larger than on other Outremer catamarans. This additional space allows for a larger pantry and storage, a big square shaped table with L-shaped settee, an additional bench and a large navigation table.
Wasco has the standard layout of the galley up along the aft side of saloon. To port is a very spacious forward looking nav station with full size chart table, large L- shaped seating area with table to starboard. The starboard hull has an aft stateroom master stateroom with an athwartship berth, a seat and hanging locker. Mid-ships is a double berth with a head and shower forward. The freezer is located just aft of the berth. Moving forward the washing machine is in the bow section along with an excellent storage area.
The port hull has an aft stateroom with its own private head compartment. Mid-ships is a double berth with a head/shower forward. In the forepeak there are bunks that could function as crew quarters with hanging lockers in the forepeak.
