Cheers may be the biggest 38 footer you’ll ever go aboard. She is also one of the nicest custom boats you’ll ever see. Her hull was built to Alaskan fish boat standards and finished at Port Townsend ShipWrights Co-op. Her systems are first rate and extremely well executed. Everywhere you look you’ll see well thought-out solutions. The hull was originally built to a fishing boat design and then her bulbous bow and swim-step were designed by Tim Nolan N.A. She has tremendous storage capacity and has the ability to go virtually anywhere. She has a single John Deere 375 hp with commercial hydraulic windlass and bow and stern thrusters.

If you appreciate the brawny good looks of a commercial vessel but enjoy the fit and finish of a traditional yacht, Cheers might be for you.

Cheers is moored in a private marina in Port Ludlow, please contact the listing broker Bob Schoonmaker at 206-818-7394 or bob@swiftsureyachts.com to schedule a showing.

All vessels sold through Swiftsure Yachts are sold through our Seattle office and appropriate taxes and fees apply.

General Description

With a hull designed and built by a Tacoma, Washington commercial boat manufacturer for the Alaskan fisheries and then finished off to high yacht standards by Port Townsend Shipwrights, this vessel is made for northwest adventure and is a head turner at every dock or anchorage. The original owner intended the boat to be not only capable to handle Alaskan fishing conditions but also included an open checkbook for top of the line marine equipment. The second owner has continued the care with professional maintenance and upgrades to increase cruising amenities. She’s a fine cruising and fishing platform and the huge cockpit and fly bridge offer terrific entertaining space.

The big John Deere marine diesel, genset, hydronic heating and other amenities make long trips enjoyable and with three helms and new canvas bimini and cockpit rain/shade protection she’s a go anywhere boat. The boat cruises economically at trawler speeds of 7-8 knots but can be readily pushed to 10-11 for passages through a rapids or when speed is important.

Docking is a cinch with hydraulic bow and stern thrusters and port and starboard gates forward in the cockpit allowing one step to or from the dock without a ladder. This is also a fine safety feature for dinghy loading with guests, kayaks, ship’s stores or a dog. A large swim step (part of the hull) houses the aft thruster and almost new Nick Jackson davits completes the package. The stainless rails are oversized and are polished to perfection. Beneath the long cockpit is a huge lazarette that will hold cruising and fishing gear, extra food and supplies, and other ship’s gear. Port & starboard walk around decks provide easy access to anchor and dock.

Moving through the watertight Dutch door on cockpit level into the main salon the commercial quality flooring is not only nautical but practical whatever the weather. Steps on the port side take you down to the aft cabin with an extra-large guest quarterberth and storage. The well-equipped galley with Corian counters, Dickinson Mediterranean 3-burner stove with oven, Isotherm SS refrigerator/freezer and microwave, is to starboard and across from the oversized dinette that comfortably seats five and converts in minutes to a double bed. A new custom sapele dinette table with two stage pedestal was added in the winter of 2021-22.
Forward of the galley is the main helm on starboard with a double seat and across is a double seat for the navigator.

Exceptional interior lighting systems include courtesy lights near the cabin sole and around the cabin overhead.

Forward of the galley is the main helm on starboard with a double seat and across is a double for the navigator. Access down to the big engine room is between the helm areas. The custom sapele mahogany interior is warm and inviting throughout the boat. Down two short stairs a huge separate shower is to starboard and the head to port. Forward of this is the large owners starboard double bunk and hanging locker and more storage to port.

Access to the fly bridge and SS upper helm steps is at the forward end of the cockpit. An l shaped bench seat is to starboard and a double helm seat is centered forward. The new bimini covers most of this area and offers protection without taking away the beauty of the outdoors. Visibility is terrific at the upper helm for anchoring or docking and there is space for kayaks, boards etc. There are new sun covers for all of the cushions.

Recent maintenance in 2022-23 includes a new main engine exhaust with fiberglass sleeve, new fresh water pump, oil changes, filters, etc. The boat was hauled in September 2022 and the PSS dripless shaft seal replaced bottom painted, hull waxed, new zincs, new thru-hull for a new Garmin speed/depth transducer (AIRMAR DS 810) and prop polished and coated with prop-speed.
