The Sabre 38 Salon Express Paradox may be the ideal powerboat to cruise the Pacific Northwest as a couple or a family with young children. She has the terrific traditional good looks of the downeast style, with all the horsepower and speed you could ever want. Her low freeboard and IPS drive system make her a breeze to handle and with her dinghy stowed for easy access, she can anchor anywhere.
Few boatbuilders today take the pride in their craftsmanship as Sabre Yachts does. It shows everywhere you look. The engine room has plenty of space to complete maintenance, there are lockers and cabinets everywhere and you see quality construction throughout.
Paradox is a two owner boat and was moved to the west coast with her current owners in 2019. She’s got the space needed to live aboard comfortably for weeks (or more) at a time and has been lovingly maintained.
If you’ve been looking for a really nice power cruiser that’s ready to cruise now, come take a look at Paradox. Please take the time to view the boat on a computer, it makes a big difference how much detail you get to see.

Manufacturer Provided Description
The Sabre 38 Salon Express represents the latest in design and naval architecture. Her exterior profile still says “downeast” and she is built in the tradition of Maine boat building: beautiful, strong, steady, reliable and very seaworthy. Yet below her skin, technology is everywhere: from her resin infused laminates, to state of the art systems, to her pod propulsion drive. Her hull lines are the latest thinking in vee-hulled motor yachts and are specifically designed for the installation of pods, allowing fuel economy, quiet running and a pleasant dry ride.
The pod drive train of the Sabre 38 offers excellent fuel economy, an important consideration in these days of uncertain diesel prices. Pods also lower noise by pushing out exhaust through the propeller stream and importantly allow confident boat handling when docking or maneuvering in tight spaces.
In her interior the Sabre 38 Salon Express provides an open design which will suit a day’s outing with friends as easily as a longer cruise. Her cockpit is raised to a level just 5 inches below the main salon so as to connect these two important social spaces, and the aft end of the house opens with drop down windows and a swing door.
In her main salon a large, U-shaped settee with fold over table will seat up to three couples, while the forward end of the settee can be oriented forward to provide a comfortable perch when underway. To starboard, aft of the Stidd helm seat, is a long cabinet housing an LED television on an electric lift and storage compartments for the owners gear.
Coming Aboard
Boarding Paradox is very easy from her stern from the molded in swim-step. There is a transom door with a short step up into the cockpit. As you come aboard you notice the very handy way that the dinghy is stored on the swim-step. There is a launching/retrieving system by Nautley. The inflatable is an AB 9AL with a tiller steered Honda 9.9. She can plane with two aboard and is quiet and simple to operate.
Surrounding the deck and cockpit there is 1 1/4 in stainless rail that creates a very secure handholds.
When you enter the cockpit you notice a big aft bench with a table. the table is electrically operated to move fore and aft changing the seating spacing. There is a second bench seat at the back of the house and this forms a cozy outdoor space for two couples. With the aft seat all the way aft, there is plenty of room to move about and to open the large engine hatch.
Slightly to starboard is a bi-fold stainless & glass door that gives access to the main salon. There is a drop down opening window to port and opening windows at the forward end of the main salon for excellent ventilation. This enables entrance to the cabin without disturbing those seated on the benches. The door can be opened to varying degrees to control ventilation and privacy. There are single molded steps port and starboard to access the wide side decks going forward.
Entering the main salon you first notice how spacious she feels. There are large windows surrounding the salon and beautiful cabinets everywhere. The salon table is to port and there is a curved seating for several adults. There is an aisle going forward to allow access to the helm station and cabinets to starboard. A television is mounted in the starboard cabinet and raises for use. The super comfortable STIDD helm chair gives security to the helmsperson in any sea conditions. There is a passenger seat to port that allows participation in the navigation or conversation with those at the salon table.
Down a few of stairs is the main living spaces with the head to starboard, galley to port forward and another seating area below the salon. This second seating area is perfect to lounging after a long day or cruising. It’s private, quiet and cozy. It makes into a secondary berth for two and has plenty of cabinets and storage. It is a wonderful place to relax with book when you’re in the special anchorage. There is also a 22 inch television.
The galley has a two burner electric cooktop, built in microwave and two drawer under counter fridge/freezer. There are plenty of drawers and cabinets that are beautifully constructed of real woods.
The head has a Jabsco Quiet Flush toilet with glass door to a separate shower stall with seat.
Forward of this space is the main cabin with a spacious island queen bed and plenty of cabinets. There is a separate access to the head and room to move around when the door is closed. There is another television and plenty of lighting.
There are stainless opening ports in every cabin and overhead hatches throughout.
