The Great Pacific Race 2018: Swiftsure customers serve as support vessel
As our clients continue to do new and incredible things with the yachts we’ve helped them purchase, it’s always a pleasure to follow along. This time, we’ll be watching as Jay and May Huber aboard their Seattle-based 2002 Hallberg-Rassy 46 Present Moment are serving as a support vessel for the The Great Pacific Race, which departs California on June 2.
The race is a 2,400-mile open ocean rowing journey from Monterey to Honolulu, Hawaii, and this year Swiftsure Yachts is proud to also be sponsoring University of Washington sailor Eliza Dawson with her Row4Climate team. Eliza is a young scientist and athlete that will be rowing in a four person ocean rowing boat. The vessel is about 24 feet long and has just enough space for two small cabins and two spots for people to row.
Aboard the support boat, Jay and May will shadow the fleet of rowers providing medical and technical assistance only when and if it is needed. They will also have race officials and media member aboard to document the teams’ adventure across the Pacific Ocean.
Good luck to Eliza and fair winds to Present Moment!
