VERITAS (formerly NUNATAK) is one of the last Tashiba 40s built by the renowned Ta Shing boatyard. The final evolution in a long line of Robert Perry designed double enders also built under the names Baba and Panda, VERITAS reflects a more modern aesthetic with a distinct lack of teak decks. Her bright finished cap rail, eyebrow trim and rub rail are the only exterior wood, with stainless cabin top handrails and a beautiful oversized stainless rail/lifeline that surrounds the entire deck. Her interior finish exemplifies the high quality teak joinery characteristic of Ta Shing, with louvered locker doors, laminated door frames and a beautiful salon table. Large hatches and white laminate headliner and cabinsides provide a bright feeling below decks. Her two stateroom, one head layout with a spacious “Perry” galley is ideal for a liveaboard cruising couple.
VERITAS has just completed a cruise from the Pacific Northwest to the US East Coast and is currently en route from the Bahamas to Annapolis, Maryland. Her refits from 2010 and 2016 are still fresh – mast pulled and painted, new standing and running rigging, Andersen electric halyard winch, low friction mainsail track, a completely new suite of sails including storm sails, new watermaker, refrigeration, solar panels, wind generator, liferaft, EPIRB, safety gear, batteries, lifelines… the list goes on and on. All details were overseen by an experienced owner with the knowledge and foresight to keep the boat comfortable, simple, but most of all fun and easy to sail. Whether cruising local water or heading off into the deep blue, VERITAS is the complete package.
